Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung said this will be President To Lam’s first trip abroad after being elected President of Vietnam by the National Assembly in June 2024.
“Choosing Laos as the first country for the President to visit after he took office shows the Vietnamese Party and State's consistent policy on attaching great importance and giving the highest priority to reinforcing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos. Through this visit, Vietnam wishes to convey to the world the message of its special, loyal, and iron-clad relationship with Laos and affirms the determination to work with Laos to elevate their cooperative ties to a new level,” the ambassador said.
The visit is an opportunity for President To Lam, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and other leaders of Laos to agree on major orientations, policies and measures to forge closer ties between the two Parties and two countries this year and the following years.
