(VOVWORLD) -President Vo Van Thuong presented second-class Feat Order to the border guard as he commemorated the 65th anniversary of the Border Guard's Traditional Day on Friday in Hanoi.

At the ceremony organized by Border Guard Command, President Thuong affirmed that over the past 65 years, the border guard has overcome all difficulties and hardships, successfully accomplished the assigned tasks during the struggle for national liberation and unification and in two wars to protect the southwest border and the northern border.

In today's period of national renewal, the border guard actively participates in building and consolidating the political system at the grassroots level, socio-economic development in border areas, building a strong all-people defense, and contributing to preserving every inch of the Fatherland's sacred land.

President Vo Van Thuong said, “With responsibility and noble heart, the Border Guard has created many good programs, movements, models, and practices, such as Encouraging children to go to school, Adopting children at the Border Guard station, Military teachers, Military physician, Border guard officers strengthen communes, Cultural highlights in border areas, and Spring of the border guards warms the hearts of the villagers."

"Each officer and soldier determines that "The station is home, the border is the homeland, people of all ethnic groups are brothers."

President Thuong emphasized that the anniversary is an opportunity to once again affirm the great contributions of generations of Border Guard officers and soldiers and the great role of the People in protecting national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and border security as well as promoting the combined strength of the entire nation for building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
