(VOVworld) - State President Truong Tan Sang has lauded the significant humanitarian contributions made by the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

At a conference in Hanoi on Wednesday, he spoke glowingly of the efforts of the movement launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies over the past three years in support of needy people nationwide. Marking the occasion, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross (CICR) and 9 national associations pledged 220 million USD for 25 humanitarian programs in Vietnam. 11 local and foreign businesses also donated 600,000 USD for these programs.
