The 21-member National Election Council has issued instructions for grassroots bodies on election procedures.
Phuc told the National Assembly, “We are deliberately selecting and nominating candidates, giving due attention to the ratio of female, young, non-Party, ethnic, and expert candidates, representing all social strata. As March 19, there were 1,084 nominees, 76 of them self-nominated. The number of candidates for the 15th National Assembly is 2.17 times the number of seats to be filled.”
Inspection teams have been sent to 16 central level localities, Phuc added. The National Election Council will collect voters’ opinions on candidates and hold a third consultation conference to finalize the nomination lists for the National Assembly and People’s Councils. The nominees will then meet with voters and conduct their election campaigns.
