“This is such an intimate moment between generations that captures so much beauty and humanity. The colors, light and textures work really well,” the judging panel said in a statement released on May 29.

Now in its 12th year, the National Geographic Traveller Annual Photography Competition attracts a diverse range of photographers from amateurs to professionals across the UK and Ireland. The contest features six categories, namely landscape, people, wildlife, food, city life, and portfolio.
