In his annual "state of the world" address, the Pope said it was of paramount importance to support  dialogue on the Korean peninsula to overcome current disputes, enhance mutual trust, and ensure a peaceful future for North and South Korea as well as the wider world.

He repeated his appeal for Jerusalem’s sovereignty respect following US President Donald Trump’s controversial decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
