(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s just-concluded trip to attend the expanded Summit of the Group of Seven (G7) in Japan was a success, bilaterally and multilaterally, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son told the media on Sunday.

Mr. Son said that during his three days in Japan, Mr. Chinh attended some 40 working sessions and meetings with Japanese leaders, businesses, friends in Japan, and leaders of countries and international organizations.

Vietnam put forward many proposals to promote cooperation in addressing global issues. According to Minister Son, PM Chinh’s proposals were warmly welcomed by the other leaders.

Mr. Chinh held dozens of bilateral meetings with G7 attendees to discuss specific practical measures to beef up bilateral relations and foster coordination.

The other leaders lauded the role and position of Vietnam and affirmed their willingness to strengthen all-round cooperation with Vietnam, focusing on economy and trade and addressing emerging issues such as food security, energy security, climate change response, the green economy, the circular economy, and innovation.

At the summit and bilateral meetings, leaders underscored the importance of ensuring maritime and aviation security and safety and settling disputes and differences through peaceful means based on international law.
