PM: Vietnam will pursue trade balance with US

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is determined to balance trade with the US, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said at a reception for a US delegation led by US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) President and CEO Alex Feldman in Hanoi on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Phuc said Vietnam pledges to buy more US products and create favorable conditions for US firms to invest in Vietnam.

Mr. Feldman said he believes Vietnam will succeed in containing the Covid-19 epidemic. He said his visit to Vietnam is meant to tell the world that Vietnam is safe. US-ABC will initiate many activities to help Vietnam fulfill its role as ASEAN Chair this year.

US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink delivered to Mr. Phuc a letter from US President Donald Trump explaining the suspension of the US-ASEAN Summit because of the Covid-19 threat.

At the reception, Prime Minister Phuc witnessed Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Mr. Feldman exchanged an MoU on strengthened cooperation in industry and trade.
