PM: Vietnam to realize all SDGs

(VOVWORLD) -  Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Thursday chaired the National Conference on Sustainable Development in 2018. High on the agenda were ways to improve national competitiveness and ensure sustainable development and accelerate the implementation of the Strategy on Green Growth and Sustainable Development in Vietnam.

In his address, the Prime Minister said the conference created a good opportunity for businesses to seek support from leaders of the Party, government, and ministries to grow sustainably. He expressed his belief that with joint support of the government, enterprises, the whole society,  and the foreign community, Vietnam will fulfill all Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Agenda 2030. He said: “Vietnam is persistently pursuing economic growth in combination with environmental development to meet high demands of sustainable growth. So, the 17 UN Goals on Sustainable Development are a strategic clue for Vietnam to realize its reform and development strategies and integrate SDGs in its action programs. Vietnam is confident to achieve and even achieve before schedule all UN SDGs by 2030.”

The conference participants expressed their belief that Vietnam will accelerate to become a middle-income country in the next two decades. WB Country Director in Vietnam Ousmane Dione said major trends will likely reshape the Vietnamese economy in the coming time.
