(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam-UK relationship has never been as good as it is now, so the two sides need to boost cooperation and take advantage of the bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) for investment and trade to reach double-digit growth, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said.

At a dialogue with British businesses investing in Vietnam held in the Government Office in Hanoi on Saturday, Prime Minister Chinh said the UK is strong in technology, services, and finance. He called on the UK government and businesses to elevate bilateral cooperation to new heights, given Vietnam's intensive growth model transformation, including the establishment of an international financial center.

“A breakthrough is needed in finance and banking, whereby the UK supports Vietnam with financial services, help build an international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. There should be another breakthrough in connecting Vietnamese businesses with the global value chain and building Vietnamese sci-tech “unicorns,” the Prime Minister said.

The PM emphasized that the two sides need to make other breakthroughs in connecting the two economies more closely, more substantially, and more effectively. PM Chinh stressed the need to implement the Fourth Industrial Revolution in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, databases, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and green transformation. He urged more breakthroughs in combating climate change, implementing Net Zero commitments, cooperation in health, education, culture, sports, and helping Vietnam make English its second language.
