At the meeting, Prime Minister Chinh said Vietnam's goal is to build 3,000 km of expressways by 2025, and 5,000 km of expressways by 2030. According to planning by 2030, the Mekong Delta will have about 1,200 km of expressways.
The planning of the airport and waterway transportation system in the region has been completed, he said and urged the Mekong Delta region to complete 600 km of expressways in this term and continue to complete another 600 km the next term.

The Prime Minister said the Mekong Delta needs to develop quickly and sustainably, contributing to the overall development of the country and requested higher determination and greater efforts to achieve the goals.
PM Chinh also requested localities to continue to do a good job of taking care of the lives of resettled people, maintain security and order in the area and on construction sites, maximize project efficiency and bolster local socio-economic development.
