PM urges greater connectivity between Vietnam and UAE

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday morning received Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri and Minister of Investment Mohamed Bin Hassan Alsuwaidi as part of his ongoing official trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

While talking with the Minister of Economy, Prime Minister Chinh proposed  that, in the future, the two side strengthen cooperation and experience sharing for stronger connectivity between the two economies, creating breakthroughs for economic cooperation, promoting complementary strengths, especially in institution building and developing financial centres and enterprises,

He called on the UAE to open its market more widely for Vietnam's strong products such as agricultural and aquatic products, fresh vegetables, and processed foods, and promote cooperation and support the development of the Halal industry in Vietnam, helping to achieve the goal of 10 billion USD in two-way trade.

Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri said that the UAE has high expectations for the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Vietnam, and wishes to promote cooperation to maximize the opportunities brought by the CEPA.

More particularly, the Minister said that the UAE wants to organize a large-scale investment conference in Vietnam involving leading regional and global corporations and enterprises, and prestigious speakers to share experiences, promote economic cooperation, and attract investment from the UAE and the world to Vietnam.

Meeting with the UAE Minister of Investment, Mr. Chinh said that Vietnam considers the UAE one of its top priority partners to expand investment cooperation.

He noted that Vietnam prioritizes attracting investment in projects in high-tech, electronics, semiconductor chips, innovation, AI, cloud computing, and Internet of Things which are in line with the UAE's strengths and global trends.

The Vietnamese government leader requested the UAE’s Ministry of Investment to share its experience in attracting foreign investment, consider, select and connect partners to participate in strong and comprehensive investment cooperation with Vietnam, including cooperation with the National Innovation Center (NIC) of Vietnam.

The Prime Minister said he hopes that the UAE, with experience from the Dubai and Abu Dhabi Financial Centers, will help Vietnam in forming a suitable policy framework and development model and participate in the building, investment and development of the financial center in Vietnam.

The UAE Minister of Investment said his country was ready to share experience and support Vietnam in building financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang City. He added both Vietnam and the UAE are developing rapidly on the basis of science, technology and innovation, so the two sides have many areas of cooperation that can complement each other.
