The conference reviewed the national target program for socio-economic development in mountain and ethnic minority areas 2021–2025 and set directions for the next five years.
PM Chinh stressed the need to prioritize resources and funding and focus on human resource training, applying technology, and fostering cooperation between the State, businesses, banks, and individuals to stimulate production and improve the quality of life of people in mountain and ethnic minority areas.
Vietnam has 53 ethnic minority groups totaling 14.4 million people, according to the Central Steering Committee for national target programs. Nearly 5.6 billion USD has been allocated to the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2025 period.
