PM Chinh underlined Dien Bien’s diverse culture of 19 ethnic minority groups, strategic location bordering Laos and China, and great potential for industrial, agricultural, service and tourism development. However, the locality has yet to bring all of its advantages into play, he said.
The Government leader urged Dien Bien to turn tourism into its spearhead economic sector, pay more attention to human resources development, and speed up administrative reform.
According to Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong, Dien Bien posted a 6.7% rise in gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth in the first quarter of 2023. The number of tourists to the province increased 10 times compared to the same period last year.
The same day, PM Chinh and his entourage offered incense to martyrs at the shrine dedicated to soldiers who died at the Dien Bien Phu battlefield and at the A1 martyrs' cemetery. He also visited Dien Bien Phu victory museum.
