During a meeting with PM Chinh in Tokyo on Saturday, representatives from SBI Holdings, Renesas Electronics Corporation, Denso, Rapidus Corporation, and Tokyo Electron Limited presented their proposals for cooperation in developing the semiconductor industry and its related ecosystem in Vietnam.

They highly appreciated Vietnam's potential as well as potential for cooperation with Vietnamese partners in the semiconductor, artificial intelligence, and other high-tech industries.

PM Chinh informed them of Vietnam’s policy which considers innovation and science and technology development a strategic option and a top priority. Digital transformation and green transition are intertwined, he said.

In the field of semiconductors, Vietnam determines that internal resources are basic, strategic, long-term, and decisive factors, while external resources are important and breakthrough factors, said PM Chinh. Vietnam has an abundant workforce in information technology, which should be trained and retrained to become a high-quality human resource for the semiconductors industry.

The PM said that Vietnam wants to further develop its semiconductors industry which will play a more important role in the global supply chain.
