The two Prime Ministers evaluated the progress of implementing high-level agreements between the two countries' Politburos and the results of the 56th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.
They agreed to bolster political relations, visits and contacts at all levels and channels; vigorously implement high-level agreements and cooperation plans between the two Governments in 2024; boost the cooperation pillars in defense, security and foreign affairs.
The two Prime Ministers stressed the need to closely coordinate and support each other at regional and global forums, including the UN, ASEAN, and the Greater Mekong Subregion.
Prime Minister Chinh outlined eight cooperation points, including strengthening the connection between the two economies of Vietnam and Laos and between the three economies of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, especially in institutions, finance, transport, energy, telecommunications, and tourism.
They said the two sides support each other for their independent, self-reliant economy coupled with proactive, in-depth, substantive and effective international integration and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese companies to do business in Laos.
Vietnam supports Laos in assuming international responsibilities this year, including the role of ASEAN Chair.
