PM meets foreign businesses to address concerns, seize opportunities

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday chaired a conference with foreign businesses operating in Vietnam to address their concerns and encourage them to grasp opportunities to do business in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc said at the event that over the past 9 months, Vietnam's macroeconomy was stable; inflation was under control; major balances of the economy were guaranteed; GDP grew 4.24%; the currency market was basically stable; and exchange rates were managed flexibly in accordance with market developments.

Vietnam has been praised by international organizations for being one of the most successful countries in attracting foreign investment.

Many prestigious international organizations spoke highly of the results and prospects of economic development and upgraded Vietnam’s credit rating, she said.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment called for ministries, sectors, and localities to support businesses from the initial research, through building and implementing projects, to accessing new markets and boosting exports and domestic sales.

It asked them also to focus on economic and social recovery and development programs, continue to reform administrative procedures, and improve the investment environment for businesses and investors.

Many foreign economic groups say Vietnam has an opportunity to become a manufacturing hub in the global supply chain.

The international community believes Vietnam plays an important role in promoting global trade, and many large investors are committed to expanding their operations in Vietnam.
