At a meeting on Sunday with key leaders of the province as part of his field working trip to the Mekong River Delta, the Prime Minister stressed the need for the province to focus on promoting modern agriculture, ecological agriculture and civilized farmers based on science and technology and innovation and strengthening digital transformation, green transformation, the circular economy and sharing economy.

Mr. Chinh said it’s important to focus on three main growth drivers of investment, consumption and export, fully tap the domestic and foreign markets, accelerate public investment capital disbursement, and take the advantage of the free trade agreements that Vietnam has signed in order to boost export.

Dong Thap province needs to urgently complete and submit the Provincial Planning for approval, enhance connectivity between the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City, diversify resources, promote investment in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), develop a synchronous, efficient transport, improve infrastructure of industrial parks and border-gate economic zones, focus on population management, especially in flood-prone residential areas, said Mr. Chinh.

The Prime Minister suggested that Dong Thap province continue to promote administrative reform, improve the investment and business environment, focus on the processing industry, high technology, renewable energy, tourism development, and environmental protection, work out effective scenarios and solutions to respond to natural disasters, climate change and landslides, take water resources as the core factor, protect special-use forests, and preserve biodiversity.
