At the meeting, Prime Minister Chinh said economic-trade-investment relations between Vietnam and Australia are thriving. Bilateral trade value last year reached nearly 14 billion USD and the two countries have become one of each other's top 10 trading partners.
The two countries’ leaders have just approved the Strategy to Enhance Vietnam-Australia Economic Cooperation, which according to the PM is a solid foundation for Australian businesses and the Vietnamese business community in Australia to boost cooperation with Vietnamese businesses.
The PM asked Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs in Australia to bring into maximize the comprehensive strategic partnership with Australia, which was just upgraded during the PM’s visit, to develop bilateral economic links.
He called on the Association, businesses, and entrepreneurs increase assistance for the Vietnamese community, especially vulnerable persons and those newly arriving in Australia, actively help persuade the Australian side to recognize the Vietnamese community as an ethnic minority group, promote the maintenance and learning of the Vietnamese language, uphold and popularize the Vietnamese culture, and step up cultural exchanges and tourism.
The Vietnamese Business Association in Australia was established in 2010 and now has 500 members, including 100 in Vietnam.
