PM assigns tasks to banking sector

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday pointed out eight tasks that the banking sector must perform, of which the top priorities are promoting growth and supporting social security programs.

Prime Minister Chinh assigned tasks to the State Bank and the banking sectors at an event in Hanoi on Monday on the Lunar New Year. He said “First is to contribute to maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and promoting growth of 8%. Second, there is a policy to prioritize credit for industries and programs such as eliminating leaky, temporary housing, developing social housing, and helping low-income earners have homes.”
The Prime Minister also requested the banking sector to boost credit in consumption, growth, and export; ramp up public-private cooperation to invest in infrastructure development, especially in poor provinces; control bad debt; and continue strong digital transformation.
He stressed the need to build banking database; promote policy communication; building equitable and healthy banking institutions, aiming at benefiting people and businesses.
