PM appeals for joint efforts to eliminate makeshift, dilapidated houses nationwide

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the Emulation and Commendation Council, has launched a movement to join hands in "eliminating makeshift, dilapidated houses " nationwide until 2025.

The launching ceremony was organized on Saturday in Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province, and attended by President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien and Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan as well as leaders of central and local agencies and the masses.

In his remark, Prime Minister Chinh called on organizations and individuals at home and abroad to respond to the movement in many different ways and as much as they can.  

“The emulation movement we are organizing today aims raise funds to build and repair 170,000 houses for poor and near-poor households across the country from now until the end 2025."

"With the strong determination of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front, as well as great efforts and drastic actions of the business community and people, I believe the movement with a profound and noble humane meaning will receive positive response and support from organizations, individuals, the entire society and people,” PM Chinh said. 

The Organizing Board announced that it had raised more than 15 million USD. At the ceremony, parts of the Central Fund for the Poor were distributed to five northwest provinces, including Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Son La, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai. Houses were handed over to 100 households in Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province.

Also on Saturday morning, the Prime Minister and leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and Hoa Binh province attended the groundbreaking ceremony to build new houses for families in difficult circumstances in Da Bac district.
