71-year-old Phumtham Wechayachai is a veteran politician from the Pheu Thai Party. Previously, he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce under former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Minister of Defense when Paetongtarn Shinawatra assumed office last August.
