During this gastronomy week, which will run through Sunday, the Embassy of Peru in Vietnam will give businesses and F&B representatives a look at Peru’s potential for development.

Organized in collaboration with A Au Vocational Guidance and the Sheraton Hanoi Hotel, the event includes cooking and mixology classes and demonstrations of Peruvian cuisine by Peruvian chef Jose Maria Murga Brescia at the Sheraton’s Oven D'or Restaurant.

Two chefs from Vietnam and Peru will jointly prepare a dish that represents the intersection of their countries’ cuisines.

Augusto Morelli, Peruvian Ambassador to Vietnam, told VOV at the launch ceremony of the gastronomic week in Hanoi on Tuesday that the program was held annually in the 3 or 4 years before the COVID pandemic.

“But now we’ve resumed that activity out of a desire to connect Peru and Vietnam and their peoples through cuisine. It’s a way to introduce Peruvian cuisine to Vietnam. Peruvian dishes are a mixture of the Japanese, Chinese, and European cultures,” said the Peruvian diplomat.

Between 2012 to 2023 the World Travel Awards organization has nominated Peru 10 times to its list of the world's top culinary tourism destinations. Peru has also been honored in the category of top culinary tourism destination in South America. Last year Peru brought home the title of world's leading culinary destination for the fourth time.
