People-to-people diplomacy serves national development: report 2023

(VOVWORLD) -In 2023, people-to-people diplomacy together with party diplomacy and state diplomacy has promoted its pioneering role in creating and maintaining a peaceful environment, and mobilizing external resources to serve national development, enhance Vietnam's position and reputation globally, said a Party report.

The report was delivered on Wednesday in Hanoi at the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission meeting to review people-to-people diplomacy in 2023 and work out tasks for 2024.

Le Hoai Trung, Head of the Commission, applauded the people's organizations and associations for promoting the motto "proactiveness, flexibility, creativity, and effectiveness" and contributing to national foreign affairs work.

He underscored main tasks in 2024, “The role of people's foreign affairs needs to continue to be fully recognized. The Communist Party of Vietnam have clearly identified and for the first time the 13th National Party Congress Resolution underlined three pillars: Party diplomacy, state diplomacy and people's diplomacy."

"In particular, people-to-people diplomacy plays a pivotal role in creating a social foundation in Vietnam's relations with other countries. It is necessary to further change awareness, build strategies and plans to develop people-to-people partnerships, elevate multilateral foreign relations, and do a good job of Overseas Vietnamese affairs,” Trung said. 

The External Relations Commission awarded groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in people's foreign affairs in 2023, and conferred badges "For the cause of people's foreign affairs" to individuals.
