In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, the leader said Vietnam achieved all 12 set targets, of which 8 targets were surpassed. Political stability and social order and safety were maintained. External activities and international integration were strengthened, contributing to protecting national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and strategic interests. Positive sentiment and confidence were felt in society and among the people.
“There are many more jobs to do and do better, but the first hurdle lies with how to create more remarkable changes in administrative reform and pragmatically remove bottlenecks and barriers to investment, production, and business activities, thus facilitating the mobilization of all resources for development,” the Party and State leader highlighted major tasks for 2019.
More attention should be paid to building and developing culture and society, building human resources, and promoting social equality and progress in each development step and policy, Mr. Trong noted, adding “A constant key task is to build a pure, strong, and effective Party and political system”.
2019 is essential in implementing the 12th National Party Congress' resolution and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for 2016-2020 and preparing for the 13th National Party Congress scheduled for 2021.
The Party and State leader called on soldiers and people at home and overseas Vietnamese to join hands in order to successfully complete the set targets and tasks, taking the country to the period of rapid and sustainable development, with higher position and greater strength.
