Delegates engaged in in-depth, comprehensive, and highly consensual discussions on three strategic content areas with long-term significance—crucial for preparations toward the 14th National Party Congress and for promoting Vietnam’s continued renewal and sustainable development in the new era.
In his closing remarks, Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Party Central Committee requested the revised political report to embody both continuity and innovation. It must accurately capture the country’s development path, particularly its significant achievements in politics, economics, social affairs, culture, national defense, security, and foreign relations.
The revised report must clearly define the objectives of the upcoming 14th congress term and extend the strategic vision to 2045, 2050 and beyond. It should highlight new development drivers, including science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, high-quality human resources, and the effective use of global integration opportunities, the Party leader stressed. It must reaffirm the pivotal role of Party building and rectification, and the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and negativity.
Efforts must be made to combat individualism, group interests, and moral and lifestyle degradation; enhance power control; and improve the Party’s leadership, ruling capacity, and combat power. The General Secretary also emphasized strengthening national governance and the effectiveness of the political system.
As institutional reform is identified as a breakthrough and key driver for rapid and sustainable development, Mr. To Lam called for the creation of a coherent, transparent, and feasible legal system that fosters a favorable investment and business environment while safeguarding legitimate public interests. He urged increased application of digital technology in governance and a transition from a management-focused to a service-oriented administration.
Personnel work for the 14th National Party Congress must be carried out in a comprehensive, scientific, methodical, rigorous, democratic, objective, and transparent manner, Mr. Lam said. It must strictly comply with the Party’s regulations, the principle of democratic centralism, and laws, he said, stressing that national interests must be placed above all else.
The Party Central Committee reached high consensus on the importance of firmly upholding the principle of the Party’s unified leadership over personnel work, he noted.
The Party leader called on the entire Party, people, and armed forces to stay steadfast in their faith, continue to nurture the aspiration for development, and uphold the determination for comprehensive reform, with a view to building a peaceful, prosperous, powerful, and happy Vietnam.
