Party leader welcomes First Secretary and President of Cuba in Hanoi

(VOVWORLD) -General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and his wife hosted a red-carpet welcome ceremony on Monday in Hanoi for First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and his wife, who are in Vietnam for a state visit and attendance at a ceremony celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Shortly after the welcoming ceremony, the General Secretary held talks with Cuba’s top leader on direction of more substantive and effective cooperation between the two countries.

In his opening remarks, Party leader To Lam said: “Vietnam cherishes the solidarity and wholehearted support, both spiritual and material, that Cuba has given to Vietnam in the past cause of national liberation and reunification as well as in the present cause of national construction and defense."

"The Party, State and people of Vietnam are proud and determined to join the Party and State of Cuba in inheriting and continuously promoting our precious heritage values and great achievements of cooperation, unceasingly expand and enhance the effectiveness of comprehensive cooperation, commensurate with the potential and level of good political trust between our two countries.”

On Monday morning, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and his wife Lis Cuesta Peraza laid wreaths and visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
