At the hybrid conference in Hanoi on Thursday, the Party leader praised the Government’s achievements in 2025, particularly in curbing inflation and maintaining GDP growth at one of the highest levels in the region. He said these outstanding results demonstrate the economy’s resilience amid global uncertainties.
He outlined key directions and tasks that the Government should prioritize in 2026: “Focus on removing institutional bottlenecks and shortcomings to unlock resources. There must be a strong and substantive shift from a ‘management’ mindset to a ‘development-enabling’ approach. Priority should be given to maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major economic balances, managing fiscal and monetary policies in a coordinated, flexible, and market-based manner, and avoiding overreliance on administrative measures.”

The General Secretary called on the Government to prioritize the development of foundational and spearhead industries, promote the ‘Make in Vietnam’ strategy, effectively tap into the marine economy, space economy (above and below ground), and the sharing economy. Foreign direct investment should be attracted selectively and linked with technology transfer in order to strengthen internal capability. It’s important to further boost the digital government, digital economy, and digital society and foster private conglomerates capable of participating in key infrastructure projects, high technology, and strategic sectors, he said.
The Party leader urged faster construction and completion of national databases on land and real estate to improve resource management and promote a transparent market. He emphasized the effective exploitation of rare earth resources to support the development of new industries while ensuring environmental protection and sustainable development.
Party leader Lam stressed the need to continue building a strong all-people national defense foundation and solid regional defense posture, developing a self-reliant, dual-use, and modern defense and security industry to enhance the overall strength of the armed forces, improving citizen protection, and boosting cultural diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, thereby elevating Vietnam’s global stature and prestige.
