Mr. Trong made the appeal at Monday’s ceremony in Hanoi marking 75 years of the public security force’s implementation of President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings.

Each and every People’s Public Security officer must regularly self contemplate, foster and hone their morality, be fully aware of and try their best to follow President HCM’s teachings, he said. 

"They should always bear in mind their responsibilities, duties and obligations, uphold dignity, and be honest and modest, be respectful to the people, be willing to admit and correct mistakes and be willing to accept accountability and punishment."

It’s important to resolutely and persistently prevent and fight degradation in political ideology, morality and lifestyle and signs of "self-evolution and self-transformation," said Party leader Trong.

He stressed that the fight against corruption and negativity must be conducted resolutely and persistently with no holds barred.

In a letter in 1948, President HCM outlined the virtues of a revolutionary public security officer including hard work, thrift and honesty; love and assistance for colleagues; absolute loyalty to the Government; respect to the people; devotion to work; and resolution and intelligence to the enemy.  

At the ceremony, State President Vo Van Thuong presented the first-class Fatherland Protection Order to the People’s Public Security force.
