| Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong addressed a ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations and receive the Gold Star Order
At a ceremony in Hanoi on Wednesday to mark the 70th anniversary of the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations and receive the Gold Star Order, Mr. Trong said that throughout thousands of years of Vietnam’s history, arts and literature which are patriotic, humane, and close to the people, have been a tremendous inner strength. He added the Communist Party of Vietnam continues to consider arts and literature an important and subtle area of culture, an essential need to express humans’ aspiration for truth, goodness, and beauty, and one of the major driving forces to directly build the spiritual foundation of society and the comprehensive growth of Vietnamese people during national industrialization, modernization, integration, and development. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said: “To promote the great role of arts and literature to the highest level, we need to incorporate it in implementing the country’s tasks with a special focus on building a rapid and sustainable economy and safeguarding the fatherland’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Other tasks include Party building and rectification, building a contingent of competent and moral cadres, and expanding foreign relations to create a new momentum for national renewal and comprehensive development. A key point of major policies remains building Vietnamese culture and people, who are able to meet the needs of sustainable development in the new period.”
The Party General Secretary called on the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations at all levels to maximize creativity of generations of artists and seek an appropriate method to direct creative works towards the ultimate goal of building and nurturing Vietnamese people in the new period.
At the ceremony, President Tran Dai Quang conferred the Alliance with the Gold Star Order, a noble distinction of the Vietnamese State.
