Congratulating the Party leader on the occasion, Mr. Thuong said the honorable distinction recognizes Mr. Trong’s great contribution to the Party development over the past 55 years.
As the Party leader, Mr. Trong demonstrated his leading role and worked with the Party Central Committee, the Party Politburo, and the Party Secretariat to build a united Party organization with high political consensus to lead the entire Party, people, and army to obtain several major achievements thus raising Vietnam’s international status.

Mr. Trong said that as a Party member, he has been educated and sharpened to gradually grow and obtain certain achievements.
He said: "I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Party, the State, and the people. I’d like to thank leaders and former leaders and all the comrades. I promise to dedicate my whole life to strive and sacrifice for and be absolutely loyal to the Party’s ideology and revolutionary cause. I will constantly foster, learn, and follow President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle to deserve as a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam."
