Addressing the event, President Truong Tan Sang reviewed the life and honourable revolutionary career of late Party leader Nguyen Van Linh, who was a brilliant student of President Ho Chi Minh.

Born in 1915 in Hung Yen province, Linh was well-known for his initiating Vietnam’s renewal process, which has resulted in major achievements in politics, economics, and social issues.

President Sang said “during the 70 years of his revolutionary career, Party leader Nguyen Van Linh held different positions of leadership and in all of them he always did his utmost for the Party and the people. He set a bright example of a staunch communist, and fulfilled all missions assigned by the Party, particularly during the hardest periods of Vietnam’s revolution. He was a shining example of public-spiritedness and selflessness, a leader who kept the revolutionary morality, put the interests of the revolution above the individual, had an inquiring mind, and was ready to listen to public opinion. Party leader Linh was an outstanding leader who devoted all his life to the nation, and people and earned great prestige among the Vietnamese people.
