The Party leader addressed a meeting with outstanding teachers and education managers in Hanoi on Monday on the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20).

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that throughout the revolutionary process, the Party and State have always affirmed that education and training are the top national policies and the nation's future. Many guidelines and policies have been adopted to invest in education and develop education ahead of other fields.

According to the General Secretary, the education sector needs to strongly innovate educational content and methods toward modernity and practicality, improve knowledge, skills, and qualities of learners, increase practice, and apply knowledge into practice.

He urged for immediate solutions to completely eliminate illiteracy, especially in remote and ethnic areas, launch the "Digital Literacy Movement", ensure state budget spending on education accounts for at least 20% of total state budget expenditure, have preferential mechanisms and policies to attract non-state resources to invest in developing education and training.

General Secretary To Lam requested a focus on building a team of virtuous and talented teachers and educational administrators who have passion, enthusiasm, skills, knowledge, transmission capacity, eagerness to learn, and innovation capacity. "There should be a breakthrough solution to develop a team of leading experts and scientists who both work in the education sector and contribute to other sectors and fields," he added.
