In his address, General Secretary To Lam praised Petrovietnam’s contributions over the past five decades. Each year, the group contributes 20–30% of the state budget revenue, playing a vital role in stabilizing the macro-economy, ensuring national energy security, and sustaining “the lifeblood of society.” He noted that Petrovietnam has mastered advanced technologies on par with global standards and affirmed its position as a leading state-owned enterprise spearheading international economic integration.
Looking to the future, the General Secretary urged Petrovietnam to continue to bring into play its role as the nucleus of a modern industrial value chain, pioneering energy transition, new energy, and renewable energy development. He emphasized leveraging science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key drivers of breakthrough growth while strengthening corporate governance in line with international standards and sustainable development.
He underscored the importance of firmly safeguarding national energy security through a three-tiered architecture of ensuring stable, flexible traditional sources; liquefied gas and storage facilities; and new sources such as wind and nuclear power. He also called on the group to proactively build strategic reserves and ensure agile, secure supply management tied to national energy and defense security as well as economic self-reliance.
The General Secretary further commended Petrovietnam for its mastery of marine economic activities, from operations on the sea surface and within its waters to the seabed and continental shelf.
On this occasion, Petrovietnam launched the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam program, which will establish digital STEM classrooms, gradually upgrade educational infrastructure, and connect schools, localities, and international partners.
