General Secretary Lam, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission, had a working session with the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army on Wednesday in Hanoi. He urged the General Department of Politics to direct the entire army to build a politically strong army, who is closely attached to the people, continue to take the lead in protecting the ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous, hostile, and opportunistic political views, and protecting the Party, State, people, and regime.

“The army must modernize its personnel before modernizing its weapons and equipment. I suggest that the General Department of Politics strengthen coordination with the General Staff in building human resources, especially high-quality human resources in the army. Continue to pool talents in line with the Vietnam People's Army Project until 2030, with a vision to 2050, while focusing on educating and training elite officers and soldiers who are strong in both politics and military,” Mr. Lam said.
Each officer and soldier must have truly solid political will, be good at techniques and tactics, master new and modern weapons and equipment, have innovative thinking and digital skills, understand military art and the ability to coordinate operations, the Party leader said, stressing the importance of good health and resilience to meet the special requirements of military operations.
