(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired the fifth plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee, which opened in Hanoi on Wednesday.

High on the agenda is a review of 10-year implementation of the Resolution on continuing to reform land-related policies and laws, adopted at the sixth session of the 11th Party Central Committee; 15-year implementation of the Resolution on agriculture, farmers and rural areas adopted at the seventh plenum of the 10th Party Central Committee; and the 20-year implementation of the Resolution on continuing to reform, develop and improve the efficiency of the collective economy, adopted at the fifth plenum of the 9th Party Central Committee.

Participants also discuss the project on building Party organizations and on members, and another on the establishment of provincial steering committees for the prevention and control of corruption and misconducts.

Opening the plenum, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said issues to be discussed are very difficult and momentous for the successful implementation of the Resolutions of the 13th National Party Congress.

Emphasizing the summary of 20 years of implementation of the Resolution of the 9th Party Central Committee’s fifth Plenum on continued renewing, developing and improving the efficiency of the collective economy, Mr Trong said: “I request the Party Central Committee and delegates to derive from practice, discuss and evaluate in an objective and scientific way the results and achievements and thoroughly analyze the limitations, weaknesses and causes. It’s imperative to closely follow the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the country's reality, create a high consensus on the goals, viewpoints, guiding ideas and major tasks and solutions to make the collective economy grow stronger and truly become an important economic component of the socialist-oriented market economy in Vietnam.”

Party leader Trong affirmed the importance of building, consolidating, and organizing the party and improving the quality of party members in the new situation. He also underlined the importance of giving opinions on the project for establishing a Provincial Steering Committee on anti-corruption and misconducts.
