(VOVworld) - Vietnam’s contemporary literature, movie industry, and language are being discussed in Paris by 50 researchers, critics, and translators from around the world.

Benoit Paumier, General Commissioner of the France-Vietnam Year, said Vietnamese literature is drawing greater attention from French readers and publishers. It has gained a foothold as can be seen in the 4 Vietnamese literary works to be featured at the coming Paris International Book Fair.

According to Aboubakr Chraibi of the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations, the workshop will promote cultural exchange between countries. He said the French language and culture serve as a bridge to help Vietnam get acquainted with contemporary trends in literature.

Doan Cam Thi, who has conducted numerous studies of Vietnamese literature, said the event creates an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce to the world its contemporary literature and movies as well as its best-known authors and filmmakers.
