(VOVworld) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal in the capital city of Doha, Qatar, on Monday.
This is the first meeting of the two leaders since the two rival movements signed a surprise unity deal last month. The meeting took place after President Abbas held talks with Qatar Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. Both expressed their sincere hospitality to reach a new progress based on bilateral relations. The two leaders expressed a serious willingness to turn over a new leaf, based on national partnership. They also discussed latest developments in Palestine, including the unity agreement between Fatah and Hamas and establishing a favorable environment to implement the deal.
