Over 43 million USD to develop Southwestern region electricity

The Southern Power Corporation, part of the Electricity of Vietnam, next month will kick off a project to develop an electricity grid for 64 villages in 13 districts of Kien Giang province. Under the project, nearly 9,000 households, of mostly Khmer people will have access power.

The Southern Power Corporation, part of the Electricity of Vietnam, next month will kick off a project to develop an electricity grid for 64 villages in 13 districts of Kien Giang province. Under the project, nearly 9,000 households, of mostly Khmer people will have access power. The corporation will additionally support each Khmer household with 20 meters of electrical wires, power-saving bulbs and other related electrical equipment. The project is part of the corporation’s plan to develop power networks for ethnic Khmer people in the other southwestern provinces of Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, and Bac Lieu with a total investment capital of more than 43 million USD. The plan is scheduled to be completed by next year.
