(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang and his entourage arrived in Hanoi on Friday successfully concluding his state-visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit obtained many important successes in highlighting the political trust and practical and effective cooperation between the two countries. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pham Binh Minh, told reporters after the visit: “The President’s visit was fruitful. The two countries issued the Vietnam – China 8-clause joint-statement and signed 10 documents including the government’s Action Program on the implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership in 5-year term. The documents will enhance Vietnam – China relations in various areas. Relevant agencies and sectors will base on the documents to strengthen relations in the future.”

Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said during the visit, the two sides discussed pending issues including those in the East Sea: “The two sides agreed to settle the issues in the East Sea through peaceful manners, negotiation, abiding by the guiding principles in settling sea-related issues between Vietnam and China, and respecting international law, and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Both sides reached a consensus  on boosting measures on sea delineation in the Tonkin Gulf and strengthening development cooperation off the sea in the Tonkin Gulf. They agreed to conduct joint survey in the Tonkin Gulf sea areas to serve the Tonkin Gulf delineation and development cooperation in the region”. Minister Minh said that during meetings with senior Chinese leaders, President Sang emphasized the needs to focus on humanitarian treatment for fishermen and solving fishing related affairs. The two sides agreed to effectively use hotlines to timely resolve arising problems in the East Sea. They highly appreciated the establishment of a hotline between the two Defense Ministries. During President Sang’s visit, Vietnamese and Chinese Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development agreed to set up a hotline on unexpected incidents in fishing operations at sea. They agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ marine policy and border soldiers.
