(VOVWorld) – Leaders of cities, provinces and relevant ministries and agencies have joined Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh in an online discussion about building new rural areas.

Ninh spoke highly of the initial outcomes that localities have made under the National Program on New Rural Areas, saying they are attributable to the strong commitment of local authorities. The Deputy Prime Minister asked the localities to complete the master planning in all communes to determine areas for production. Advocacy remains an important part of the scheme. “The program has been turned into a campaign and becomes part of people’s lives. We need to weather the difficulties to accomplish it. It is important to involve the entire political system and to raise people’s awareness about their role of mastery. Local governments and party organizations play a key role to guide the locals,” said Deputy Prime Minister Ninh.

Statistics show that about 60% of the communes have completed planning. 2,000 communes target to meet the standard of new rural areas by 2015.
