Father Ignatio Ho Van Xuan, head of the cathedral’s restoration board, said the number of lights has doubled compared to 2024 in response to the Holy See’s Jubilee Year.
This year’s lighting design features blue globe motifs, conveying a message of protecting the planet and preserving a clean, green environment. In recent days, the cathedral has been a magnet for crowds eager to admire the splendor of the city’s 140-year-old icon.

“This is my first time seeing Notre-Dame Cathedral at night. It’s absolutely amazing! The Christmas decorations are stunning,” one visitor said.
Another told VOV, "I think it’s beautiful. They’ve done a good job. I live herefor like 8 months now, but it’s the first time I see the cathedral like this. It’s really beautiful."
The restoration project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, after nearly a decade of construction.
