He told the 4th meeting of the Northern Midland and Mountainous Region Coordination Council in Hanoi that the region’s socio-economic development has made visible recovery. The structure of GRDP has shifted with industry and service sectors accounting for 80.9% of the region's GRDP. The whole region’s export turnover totaled over 72 billion USD by the end of November.

The business environment has improved as 5 out of 14 localities earned the best provincial competitiveness index PCI 2023, namely Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen and Lao Cai. The Deputy Minister said the region has 37 newly established industrial parks and 26 operational industrial parks with a filling rate of more than 67%.

The Ministry has provided reports on the implementation of key inter-regional projects and called on other ministries and localities to promptly complete investment procedures and speed up the implementation progress.
