The Red River's water level has dropped about 1 meter since Monday morning but remains high. Recent heavy rains and flooding in Lao Cai province have affected over 1,200 homes, causing damage, erosion, and destruction. 129 communes are without power. Many areas in Lao Cai are heavily flooded, prompting the evacuation of thousands of residents. Police, military, and local rescue teams are delivering essential supplies to those in need.

Chairman of the Lao Cai provincial People's Committee Trinh Xuan Truong said, "We mobilized the entire political system, including citizens, the military, border guards, and police for recovery efforts. We’ve focused on relocating at-risk households and supporting those in flooded areas."

Efforts have included repairing provincial and national roads, restoring power in Bat Xat and Bao Yen district, and maintaining communications. Our goal is to ensure infrastructure and living conditions, he added. 

Heavy rain damaged more than 100 houses in Dien Bien province, leading to the evacuation of hundreds in Nam Po and Tuan Giao district. Many highways in the area were eroded.

Authorities in Thai Nguyen city and nearby areas have been evacuating thousands of households. Relief goods, including life jackets, life buoys, instant noodles, water, and milk, have been gathered and packed for delivery to flooded areas.

In Yen Bai province, roads and homes are flooded, and there are widespread power and water outages and nearly paralyzed traffic. Despite these challenges, local authorities are working hard to help affected people.

Tran Huy Tuan, Chairman of the Yen Bai provincial People's Committee, said, "Yen Bai is still experiencing heavy rain. We are rescuing people from homes flooded to the roof and bringing them to safety. Even with power and water outages, we are providing needed food supplies like instant noodles and bread and will continue to do so for the next few days."

As of Monday, Typhoon Yagi had resulted in 96 deaths or missing persons, injured hundreds, and severely damaged crops, trees, and infrastructure across Vietnam.
