The missiles lifted off from Pyongyang at 7:10 AM Wednesday and traveled about 360 kilometers before plunging into the sea, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said without specifying how many were fired.
Japan said multiple objects, believed to be North Korean ballistic missiles fell into the sea, likely outside Japan's exclusive economic zone.
North Korea last fired a missile on July 1.
