In a statement issued by an unnamed foreign ministry spokesperson, the North stressed that every type of blockade by the US against it will be considered an act of war.
The statement said North Korea possesses nuclear weapons to cope with Washington’s threats, adding that the US will be held responsible for all catastrophic consequences from a situation in which North Korea is pushed to the brink of war.
Earlier, the US imposed its strongest sanctions to date on 28 ships and 27 entities located, registered or flagged in North Korea, China, Singapore, Tanzania, or Panama. The sanctions targeted one individual for helping North Korea dodge current sanctions.
