TEPCO said it surveyed the water from 10 locations within 3 kilometers of the Fukushima No. 1 power plant two to three hours after it started releasing the treated water on Thursday.
After analyzing the samples, the company’s experts concluded that they found no tritium in the water.
TEPCO said it plans to continue taking daily seawater samples for analysis and will publicly disclose the results each following day for about a month.
