With over 90% of ballots counted, Maduro had secured 5.8 million votes. His closest rival Henri Falcon received 1.8 million votes.
Speaking to the press on Sunday after casting a ballot in Caracas, President Nicolas Maduro said that now is the time to put hatred and confrontation aside for the development of Venezuela. He pledged to take measures to deal with the economic crisis in Venezuela and conduct peace talks for national harmony.
