Hegseth pledged to advance President Trump’s mission of achieving peace through strength, based on three guiding principles: Restoring the warrior ethos, rebuilding the military and reestablishing deterrence.

The new Secretary of Defense also committed to standing alongside US allies.

On Friday, Hegseth was confirmed by the US Senate as the head of the Pentagon. Born in 1980, Hegseth is a former Army officer who served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The 29th US Secretary of Defense has promised to bring the “warrior culture” back to the Pentagon.
