(VOVworld)- The new Libyan parliament held its first official meeting in Tobruk city in eastern Lybia on Monday while violent clashes between armed factions continued in Tripoli and Benghazi. Pro-Muslim members boycotted the session and called for the opposition to meet in Tripoli. Before ending the session, the parliament elected Aguila Saleh Iissa, an independent lawmaker, as its first president. Iissa held many positions in the judicial sector under Moamer Kahhafi’s regime.
